Balsam Poplar (Balm of Gilead)
Balsam Poplar or Balm of Gilead, is steam distilled from the buds of the Populus balsamifera tree. These buds were responsibly wildcrafted in Canada. The buds were used by several Native American tribes for hundreds of years to help with congestion, aches, inflammation, lungs, hair, skin, wounds, and as a perfume. Nearly 1/4 of the oil consists of alpha-bisabolol which is strongly anti-microbial and antifungal.
Balm of Gilead has an exotic, sweet-woodsy base note which goes a long way towards calming an upset spirit, bringing peace and tranquility, strengthening mental focus, and relaxing a restless or troubled mind and body.
