My name is Karen Dragoo. I'm a Certified, Scholar's-Level Aromatherapist and a Professional Member of the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) and the Alliance of International Aromatherapists (AIA). I am also a member of Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild (HSCG).
I earned my Aromatherapy Certification, Graduate, and Scholar's Level Programs through Aromahead Institute School of Essential Oil Studies, I have also completed Robert Tisserand's Essential Oil Safety Masterclass, the Carrier Oil Course by Susan M. Parker, the Herbal Cold Care Course by Rosalee de la Foret, Combining Herbs & Essential Oils with David Crow, and numerous other Herbal and Carrier Oil courses which include herbal chemistry and specific uses of herbs.
I'm currently enrolled in Aromahead's , Teacher Training Program, Learningherbs' A Taste of Herbs and Rosemary's Remedies. and several others in DIY Herbal Fellowship. The more I learn about aromatherapy and herbalism, the more I discover there is to learn.
While learning about essential oils, I began taking a closer look at the plants that produce these oils, and started exploring traditional herbs and how they've been used throughout history. (Learningherbs.com, HerbMentor.com, and The DIY Herbal have been amazing resources for my studies in this area!) As I experimented with, and made connections between, the herbs and oils, I came to realize that there are times when herbs are all that are needed and times when a combination of herbs and essential oils are the best way to achieve homeostasis (the body's self-management or regulation of it's own functions and systems to maintain a stable, healthy internal environment). As a result, I now integrate the combined use of herbs, essential oils, and carrier oils in my life and in my products.
My business started as a hobby after I retired from teaching. I was looking for natural ways to soothe my arthritis. Then I discovered diffusion, and made blends for nighttime to help me relax and fall asleep naturally. I soon realized that when I diffused, DH breathed QUIETLY all. night. long! Whoa! That was awesome! Shortly after that, I started making different types of blends for friends - who insisted that they would pay for those blends and that I should sell them. And a business was born!
I make most of my products at home, but my physical 'store' is a booth in a small town flea market:
Old Rooster Creek Flea Market and Bazaar (BTW, if you're in or near the Dallas area, come on out to the flea market --
10424 CR 1099 there's plenty of room to browse, then hop over to Lake Lavon
Princeton, TX 75407 for an afternoon.)
It's an all indoor, climate controlled flea market that's open every weekend year round. I have a workroom behind my booth where I make certain products fresh for my customers (i.e. essential oil blends like Total Knot Out). Other products are made in small batches that will sell quickly. My oils and carriers are kept refrigerated in both locations for optimal freshness. Did I mention that I have free samples of many of my products for potential clients to try before they buy? I'd rather you know whether or not you like a product before you spend your hard-earned money on it!
I am committed to providing you with high quality, fresh products. Some products - like soaps and diffuser jewelry - can be made and stocked, while others - like bath salts and EO blends - will be made when ordered. I am usually able to ship your product within 24 - 36 hours!
If you haven't done so already, please read the Guidelines for this website.
Thank you, and Welcome!
